Golf Swing Synopsis
SPOOK LIGHT
Joplin, Mo. area, circa 1971

The spook light could often be seen on a clear night when the moon was in the sky.
All of us high school aged buddies would regularly visit it.

Two of these buddies were on a church hay ride wagon on a warm evening. One tells the other "we are gonna figure out what the spook light is, so when we see it, let's take off running as fast as we can to it. Yeah, the other said." Well, it didn't take long to see it once they got on spook light road. There it was.

The two boys took off running down the road to it. The one boy thought to himself "this will never work but why not try." Lo and behold there it was right in front of them after they had run a good quarter mile down the little hill then back up to get to it. The one boy thought to himself "well that's it, a hoax after all" as he thought at first it was someone holding a large flashlight shining across the road. But then realized the light had no source. The light was like a glob just sitting there in front of us and extending up in the air about 12 feet high. To that one boy it was like a light filter used on cameras or binoculars.

Amazed, one of the boys sticks his foot into the light, holds it in for a few seconds and removes it. Then the other boy puts his hand into it and sees it glow just like it would from any light shining. Then they walk entirely into it, all aglow from the light. Neither boy feels anything different and just this fast, the light is gone.

The boys look around trying to re-acquire the light and do spot it between them and the hay wagon they had come from, so they take off running for it again down the little hill and back up, only to have it disappear this time, before they got to it.

The two returned to the hay wagon where all the other riders had stayed(mostly girls as a matter of fact) and went on their merry way.
